A techno-creative team lives by the creed that the unique talents of each individual are vital to the sum creative effort. Team Olive knows that if one fails – all necessarily fail. Therefore, everyone makes sure to pull his weight and step in a support everyone else if they find they are falling back or stumbling. This is what makes us unique. There none of the inter-office, inter-team competition that has been the disaster of the industrial age. It doesn’t matter who takes the lead in a specific task, everyone pitches into help that person and that leadership shifts based on the talents most vital to the success of a creative exercise. Therefore, our goal is common, our effort is common, the result of our exertions everyone’s to share, and the smile of a thrilled client everyone’s victory. We are indeed a happy bunch of young creative campers.

Madushanka Ratnayake

CEO / Creative Director

Blessed with a born talent and passion for everything I do, I was fascinated by colors, designs and drawing observing everything around me with a childlike curiosity and extrapolating various visual and elemental scenarios in my mind’s eye before transforming them to paper creating visual tapestries in a wide variety of genres. Organically turning to the computer to enhance my innate capabilities, I built Olive Imagination as a formidable creative force in the marketing and advertising material production sector underscored by simplicity as my hallmark in creative work and foundation for running a business in a volatile and brutally competitive world by first hiring honest, straight shooting, ultra-talented technocreatives and then proceeding to simply removing both the brutality and the competition and working within the greater truth of marketing for a world moving into sustainability with no requirement to lie, cheat, conceal or manipulate in order to sell, forcing myself and my wide range of clients to stand by what we both do.

Anybody can become a skilled full-stack developer using frameworks such as Laraval, React Native, Ionic of Flutter like I do but in almost all cases, as both a programmer and a teacher of programming I see technocrats increasingly exclusivizing their work into the work itself and shutting themselves off from whether or not what they do is useful for the planet. My great strength is that I never use technology simply for technology’s sake. Rather, I am passionate about utilizing my proven technological capabilities to create products that will eventually ease the burden on people and translate into concrete work on the ground. In that, I am supported by my young colleagues at Team Olive and I am grateful for the fact that there are absolutely no restrictions on what I can do here, absolutely no limit to the exercise of my imagination and absolutely no curbs on my desire for innovation.

I am absolutely thrilled by technology but I am fascinated by how it can capture the sum total of the human experience. The fascination is what gives my photograph color while the technology is what gives it the depth. In my life of many experiences, I started out as an artist and a nature capturer – I won't call myself a nature photographer. There are many who do that much better than I do. However, that was the start and then I made the transition from art to photography, creating situational pieces that were founded in the fine nuancing of human beings, their activities, their conditionalities, their realities. The ride has never been perfect and it never will be. Not for one such as myself who knows only too well that there is little that one can ever know about anything and in such a vast and complicated arena as photography, at any given moment, any given person only knows so much. This is what pushes me to constantly question myself and continuously recalibrate myself, working on every different coloration of life as if those shades were part of me. Those gradations belonged to me. Olive, unlike most organizations, is brave enough to allow me to break out of living linearity and embrace life complexity.

They say that a photo is worth a thousand words but for me, a moving picture is worth a thousand photos. Yet, no amount of footage even if it is of the highest quality can tell a powerful story. That story is in the hands of the director and the editor. That is why I cut my teeth in cinematography by becoming an editor first of both visual and auditory elements. From corporate videos to commercials, from the finer aspects of visual editing, music processing and color are for me, merely technicalities. What I value most about what I do is my ability to tell a story with the highest impact in the shortest possible time. This ability of mine has been attested to by such multinationals as Fonterra, Coca-Cola and Prima locally and internationally in the commercial field and by pretty much most types of organizations for whom I did documentary and short-film work. What most people value about me is that they can leave me with a brief and forget it and be sure that magic will happen in my hands and I have never ever reneged on the promise of delivery of the highest quality work within every deadline regardless of how challenging both are in my work. Yet, I never consider myself to be a master or maestro of anything because in this field I work in, everything changes every day and a capable man will never rest easy, always pushing boundaries, always acquiring new knowledge, strongly desirous of improving both the art and the human interrelationships that are vital for delivering quality work, be that work editing a commercial, overseeing a documentary or directing a movie.

People who endlessly learn are endlessly improving and endlessly thrilled by each new thing that comes into their visual, audial and mental orbits. My entire life has been one of learning and therefore, it can be rightly said that I am a restless seeker – of knowledge. This has stood me in good stead as I lead a team at Olive Imagination. You see, it is not just skill and technique in creative work that I must know but also people, their hearts, their passions their weaknesses. It is through such observations that I can truly be a person sensitized to every nuance of those who work around me and with me. Always ready to admit my failings – and there are many – I am also the first to forgive those in others. As such, I am not only able to obtain the trust of others but trust them in turn. In the firefighter world of creative design where we battle for quality again horrific deadlines, that trust as well as my own desire for clean engagement has shown me a way to keep constantly on edge, constantly walking into new spaces, constantly shooting into new universes and, most importantly, constantly learning

Imagination and diligence are the core values of a quality graphic designer and over the last eighteen years, I have honed both of those to the optimal level possible, generating creative content with exceptional attention to detail and a near bulldog adherence to the loadstone of my life: Deliver quality. Deliver on time. Working with a plethora of creative software suites, I am at my best when working with a team that I trust to back me up in macro-projects. In my work life as well as in my personal life, there is one non-negotiable: Honesty. If I feel there is a false note somewhere in either, I am the first to jump out the window and streak away – with a good pair of Nikes on for good measure. If there is honesty in a product, in a person, in a system, in a team, I am also the first to scale a sheer wall help them in every way I can. Our team at Olive is a living example of this honesty. Our range of clients whom I have personally worked with and worked for through our team are all on that very same moral platform

Sanjeewa Dissanayake

Chief Oparetion Officer

Exactness, accuracy, delivering on promises are the key factors that I live by. It has been tough at most times to manage timeframes and many are the sleepless nights I have spent simply to ensure that delivery is made on time to our clients – sometimes, even going to the length of parking myself at our suppliers to make sure are jobs are rolling with the type of quality that our clients have come to expect from us. Yet, my work is only a part of the real me. The other part is as a teacher. That, is an entirely different realm from that which we are working in. In that world, my aim, my desire, my whole drive is to make sure that those that come to me for instruction in some specific thing go on to become even better at those skills and techniques that I impart to them. If my creative work at Olive Imagination gives me strength and direction then my teaching gives me social purpose

Avishka Indrajith

Software Developer

As the youngest and newest member of Team Olive, I am somewhat bewildered by the sheer scope and depth of the work that is done here. I am rather amazed by the creative work since I am only beginning my journey in the hard harsh world of internet UI/UX. Competence and skill I process to a rare level but I am still finding my feet in engaging in mission critical work for high quality, tough, exacting clients. In that, I have taken a few bumps at the get go but I am a fast learner. I get quiet respect from our clients for our work and even my own team which is a million times tougher on me than any client have reduced the number of times they give me hell. What can I say? I am in this for the long haul and so far, it’s been a superbly educational and massively heady ride. Let’s go!

Hasindu Shehan

Managing numbers and managing money is my thing. I am good at this. Managing people? Well that is something else altogether isn’t it? Having joined up with Olive Imagination a couple of years ago, I came from an auditing background into the fresh new world of financial management and the niggles and nuances of dealing with clients, banks, my CEO and the rest of the team have kept me pretty much on my toes the entire time I have worked here and? I love it! The classic idea of finance people are that they are soulless, bespectacled beings who look as dusty as the books they keep. I am none of those. Instead, I love the battle of taking on life and Olive had trained me in dealing with that more than anything else and it has made me a far better financial controller because of the fact
